Welcoming Porter County Babies Home
First Things First operates as a field catalyst—designed to drive systemic change in Porter County through the work of our partners’ collective impact.
Our Priorities:
Brain Development
Healthy moms make healthy babies. Porter County families need prenatal and postpartum health care. All infants need preventive and comprehensive care including well-child visits, screenings and referrals to services for continued good health.
Language
High quality care and education is an essential service for quality of life and economic health. Porter County families need a strong infrastructure for early childhood education so they can return to the workplace or pursue further education.
Early Relational Health
Nurturing and positive relationships are important for healthy families. Porter County families need access to a responsive and coordinated system of social networks, home visiting, developmental screenings and referrals.
“First Things First is a very important continuum of care and support service for families in need of resources, and having healthy babies and healthy moms in your community.”
Kristina Box, MD
Indiana State Health Commissioner
